Facebook still has influence despite that fact its popularity is slipping in the teen demographic. A study by Piper Jaffray found that Twitter is eclipsing Facebook as the favourite social network. Just a year ago, 42 per cent of teens surveyed told pollsters they preferred Facebook to all other services; by spring that had fallen to 33 per cent, and it now stands at 23 per cent.
The awkward news about teens however, cannot cancel out an outstanding earnings release, with daily active users up 25 per cent and revenue up 60 per cent versus the same quarter last year. Facebook’s ability to migrate users to mobile and monetise them was confirmed where 49 per cent of advertising revenue for the quarter came from mobile.
